BBL Surgery (Brazilian Butt Lift)
A Natural Method for Full, Shapely, and Aesthetic Hips
BBL, or Brazilian butt lift, is an aesthetic procedure aimed at making body lines more proportionate, which has been increasing in popularity among both women and men in recent years. In this procedure, the person’s own fat tissue is used to plump and shape the buttocks.
As Op. Dr. Şener Küçük, I aim to create aesthetic and balanced body proportions with natural tissues, offering my patients both safe and permanent results.
Treatment Process
It is performed under general anesthesia. Fat is removed by liposuction from the abdomen, waist, back, or hip areas. The extracted fats are purified and injected into the buttock area. The average procedure time is 2–4 hours. Discharge on the same day is possible, and a 1-night hospital stay is recommended if necessary. It is necessary to use a special corset and sitting cushion for 4–6 weeks.
Duration of Effect
The effect is immediately noticeable after the procedure. Approximately 60–70% of fat injections are permanently retained. The final appearance settles in 3–6 months. Permanence can be maintained long-term with lifestyle and weight control.
Application Areas
People who want to increase buttock volume. Flat, sunken, or shapeless buttock appearance. Those who want a distinct transition between the hip and waist. Those who prefer natural buttock augmentation with their own fat. Shaping from areas such as the waist, hips, and abdomen + buttock contour.
Advantages
Natural, soft, and shapely buttock appearance. Compatible and safe as it is made with one's own fat tissue. Provides aesthetic effects in two areas at once (fat removal and injection sites). Balanced contour is formed in the body lines. The recovery process is fast, and scarring is minimal. More natural appearance as it does not contain surgical prostheses.
What is BBL?
BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift) is a cosmetic surgery performed by injecting fats taken from different parts of the body (abdomen, waist, back, hips) by liposuction into the buttocks after a special procedure. Thus, both the areas where fat is taken are shaped, and the buttocks gain a more uplifted, fuller, and feminine appearance.
Who is it Suitable for?
Ideal candidates for BBL surgery:
Those with insufficient fullness or flatness in the buttock area
Those with fat accumulation around the waist and abdomen
Those who want to correct buttock asymmetry
Those who want to have more curvy, balanced body lines
Individuals who are in good general health and have realistic expectations
What Stages Does BBL Surgery Involve?
Liposuction
– Excess fats are removed from areas such as the abdomen, waist, and back
– By thinning the upper part of the body, the buttocks are made more prominentPreparation of Fats
– The extracted fats are purified with special devices
– Prepared in appropriate conditions to keep fat cells aliveFat Injection
– Fats are carefully injected into the lower, upper, and side areas of the buttocks

Surgical Process
Type of Anesthesia: General anesthesia
Duration: Average 2 – 3 hours
Discharge: Can be discharged on the same day or stay in the hospital for 1 night
Incisions: Small 2-3 mm incisions are found in the areas where liposuction is performed
Stitches: Self-dissolving hidden stitches are preferred
Recovery Process
Sitting should be avoided for the first 1-2 weeks (a special sitting cushion is used)
Swelling and bruising are normal and decrease within 2-3 weeks
Heavy exercise should not be done for the first month, and a special compression corset should be used
Body contours begin to become apparent at the end of 1 month
The final result is seen within 3-6 months
Is BBL Permanent?
Some of the fat cells injected with BBL are permanently retained, and some are absorbed by the body. In the first 3 months, approximately 60-70% of fat cells show permanence. Therefore, slightly more fat may be applied during the procedure to achieve the desired shape. To increase permanence, smoking should be avoided and attention should be paid to weight control.
Advantages of BBL
The person’s own fat is used, it does not contain silicone/prosthesis
Both slimming and fullness are provided at the same time
A natural and soft texture is obtained
Buttock uprightness and proportion are increased
Provides increased self-confidence in clothing selection
Risks and Possible Complications
BBL is a procedure that requires serious technical knowledge and experience.
Possible risks are:
Infection
Fat necrosis (loss of viability of fat cells)
Asymmetry
Spread of fat to unwanted areas
Nodule under the skin
Fat embolism (can be fatal if precautions are not taken)
➡ Therefore, BBL should only be performed by experienced plastic surgeons, using safe techniques and injection into appropriate layers.
